ABOUT

花と光のムーブメント

Experience the nature and charm of Kiba
with Botanical Illumination
Kiba Park will be decorated day and night with attractive effects

The “Flower and Light Movement” is a new and attractive large-scale flowerbed project that will bring new ways to enjoy the parks by creating flowers and lights throughout the four seasons. The “Flower and Light Movement” will be held at Kiba Park from February 28, 2025 (Friday). Kiba prospered from the Edo period (1603-1867) to the Showa period (1926-1989) as a “lumber town” that supplied lumber to Edo and Tokyo. Today, Kiba Park is a lush park with many trees and rich in nature. Kiba Park will be the stage for a botanical illumination that brings visitors into contact with flowers, trees, and nature. We hope you will visit the park and enjoy the contents that make the most of nature in various places in the park.

LIGHTUP & WORKSHOP

  • Fantasy of flowers and greenery

❶ Fantasy of flowers and greenery
    (Location: Fountain Square)

A “driftwood dome” made of driftwood wraps around the flower beds, and inside the dome, flowers that remind us of the sound of spring are in full bloom. Please enjoy the early arrival of spring. The lighting design inside the dome is based on the motif of Edo faceting, and visitors can feel the history and tradition of the town that has developed as a “lumber town.

  • Reminiscence of Trees

    ❷ Reminiscence of Trees
    (Location: Fountain Square)

The “History of Kiba and Edo Culture” as seen from the perspective of trees that have watched over the history of Kiba will be projected on a water screen set up in the fountain plaza. Designs of traditional crafts (Edo faceted glass, Kumiko, etc.) projected on the screen will appear like a hologram. Please enjoy a fantastic visual experience.
*The projection lasts for about 5 minutes at a time, and will be projected about 10 times per hour.

    Material provided by:
Kiyari song: Kiba Kizuna Preservation Society
type of faceted glass from Edo: Kagami Crystal Co. / Kadowaki Glass Works / Glass Artisan Yamada Glass Co.
  • Breath of spring

    ❸ Breath of Spring
    (Location: Event Plaza)

In the center of the event plaza, a three-dimensional flowerbed of light will be installed to represent the breath of spring. The octagonal flowerbed is surrounded by a glass organdie curtain, and a spring garden spreads out on the inside of the curtain, allowing visitors to stroll freely. In the center of the garden, symbolic objects of Kawazu-zakura, Keio-zakura, and Yae-zakura cherry blossoms will be arranged in different ways each week. Visitors can enjoy the soft spring space created by glass organdie and spring-inspired plants.

  • Dance of cherry blossom

❹ Dance of cherry blossom(Location: Event Plaza)

A light show will be performed with small lights dancing in the image of spring winds and cherry blossom snowstorms, which remind us of the arrival of spring. The patterns projected on the ground will enhance the “breath of spring” and express spring throughout the event plaza. Experience spring one step ahead of the others.
