CONCEPT

The Path of Wind and Light: The Ra-diance of Blossoms in Early Spring

This year’s event takes as its main motifs “wind,” which is deeply connected to the history of Kiba’s lumber industry, and “the glow of traditional joyato all-night lanterns” that once guided waterways. Through presentations featuring flowers that herald the arrival of early spring, together with atmospheric lighting rich in historical ambience, the park is transformed into a scenic display of blossoms and light. Day or night, please enjoy the heart-stirring scenes of the season’s beginning, where history, culture, and rich nature combine in harmony.

CONTENTS

The Flower and Light Movement is a Tokyo Metropolitan Government initiative to create new and attractive large-scale flowerbeds in metropolitan parks and stage seasonal floral and light displays throughout the year. For this year’s event at Kiba Park—where lumber history and waterside nature reside in harmony— we will create floral and light displays themed around the wind symbolizing its history and the glow of traditional joyato all-night lanterns guiding the waterways. The colors of early spring flowers and the historical ambience of the waterways and the joyato lanterns from the Edo period will be the main motifs. There will also be a stamp rally and other events. Please enjoy the two distinct looks created in daytime and nighttime.

Event Plaza

The joyato lanterns and small boat decorations symbolizing Kiba’s historical waterways and seasonal flowers will appear in the Event Plaza. At night, blue illumination creates a fantastical space reminiscent of ancient waterways.

Fountain Square

The fountain area will feature a special presentation themed around the wind and water in Kiba. Alongside recreating the former vitality of water transport through wooden boats and light installations, visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms blooming within the fountain during the day (*the fountain is not in operation).

Flowerbed in front of the fountain

A three-dimensional flowerbed featuring Kawazu cherry blossoms from Oyokogawa River will appear in front of the fountain. Carefully selected rare flowers show diverse expressions depending on the viewing angle. Also at night, visitors can enjoy pink and blue illuminations evoking the image of cherry blossoms floating on water.

Daytime Atmosphere

Beyond the fantastical nighttime scenery, Kiba Park during the day is wrapped in water and greenery, where a gentle, peaceful time flows.
During the event period, colorful flowers will bloom throughout the park under the warm spring sunshine, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.

This sustainable eco-friendly ballpoint pen is made from leftover wood from forest thinning, contributing to the SDGs. It can be used together with the stamp notebook.
